Obituary
MR. WILLIAM RENTOUL, OF FEILDING A well-known elderly settler of the Haleombe district in the person of Mr. William Rentoul, passed away yesterday morning, following a lengthy illness, at the age of 75 years. Born in Abernethy, Scotland, the late Mr. Rentoul came out to New Zealand as a child at the age of 11 years. Married in Kaiapoi, he engaged in farming in the Eangiwaliia district and later in the Haleombe district and during his active life was a keen sportsman and one who always took an active interest in district affairs. For some twelve years or so Mr. Rentoul had been laid aside with illness. The sympathy of many friends will go out to his bereaved wife and only son, Mr. Robert W. Rentoul. MR. HASSEL CLARE, OF WAITUNA The death is reported of Mr. Hassel Clare, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Clare, of Waituna. The deceased who was 40 years of age, had not enjoyed good health and his passing severs a link with a very well known and highly respected family of Waituna West.
