On Thursday afternoon a very pleasant time was spent at tlie residence of Airs F. AtcLachlan, tho occasion was to present to Airs R. Holmes a beautifully illustrated aud leather bound book, “The Diary of Samuel Pepys.’’ A very dainty afternoon tea. was served in the drawing-room which was gav with bowls of Iceland poppies and a cheery open fire added to the comfort of those guests. Among those presont wero Mesdames J. L. Davies, Garrick, Holmes, Alayo and Spoiglit.
