Intrigue in Slovakia
“The German intrigue in Slovakia began almost immediately after Munich,” says the Yorkshire Post, “as soon, ut least, as Slovakian autonomy had been granted in October. Though there are said to be some indications that the appeal to Herr Hitler of the Slovakian separatists, and the precipitation of the crisis, may have come a little earlier than the Fuhrer had intended, at all events he calculated, no doubt, that the technique which succeeded in September will not fa.l now. Nobody, he is doubtless assured, will fight to save the remainder of Czechoslovakia from complete disruption and unconcealed subjection to the Reich, which will deal with the fragments that remain as it chooses and when it chooses. The apt selection of the psychological moment for his coups, usually after judicious work through his apologists in other countries, is a recognised part of the Hitler technique.”
