Kirk-Windeyer Cup Matches Finish

SUGGESTED ANNUAL MATCH WITH AUSTRALIAN TEAM At a special meeting of the New Zealand Golf Council this week the chairman, Sir Alexander Roberts, reported on his conversations recently with representative of the Victorian and New South Wales Golf Councils and -with Mr Sloan Morpeth, secretary of the Australian Golf Union. It was made clear to Sir Alexander that there was no chance of the Kirk-Windeyer Cup being played for again and he then discussed the possibility of an annual match against a team representative of Australia, one man from each of four states with the right to send an extra man as an emergency, who may be selected from any of the four states represented in the team.

These suggestions were brought before the council, also a letter from Mr Sloan Morpeth on the subject of the proposed matches and it was resolved

that a letter be drafted and forwarded to Mr Morpeth this week sending a definite suggestion on these lines and expressing the earnest hope that such matches, if inaugurated, will be continuous, and not merely for a year or two.
