Singapore Defence Talks Surrounded by Secrecy
SINGAPORE, .Tunc 20. The closest secrecy is being maintained here concerning the subjects to be discussed at the British and French defence talks which are to begin on Thursday. It is sunderstood that the main items are the co-ordination of sea, land and air defences and joint naval patrols to gaurd shipping lanes carrying food supplies, frank exchange of information on t.hß disposition of forces and defences, and the common use of French and British aerodromes and naval stations. All the defence delegates have arrived except Admiral Henderson who is held up at Penang owing to the Imperial Airways ’ plane developing engine trouble.
The main items for discussion also i include the supreme command of the British and French Far Eastern forces in the event of war.
