Army Wedding

REDHEAD—RANKIN The wedding took place at the Salvation Army Citadel, Palmerston North, on June 14, of Ida Maria, second daughter of Mr. James Rankin, of Tauranga, and formerly of Woodville, and grand-daughter of Air. and Airs. David Princo, of Palmerston North, to Allan Thomas, only son of Air. and Airs. Richard George Redhead, of Cromwell. Alajor V. Blincoe, of the Salvation Army Training Garrison, Wellington, performed the ceremony, assisted by Adjutant V. Dick, of Palmerston North. Miss Ena Redhead, sister of the bridegroom, played the wedding music, and Airs. H. Prince sang Jude’s Consecration Hymn. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore full Salvation Army uniform, with a white sash, and carried a Bible. She was attended by a sister of the bridegroom, wearing a light navy costume with a pale blue sash and carrying a Bible. The bridegroom’s cousin, of Wellington, acted as best man. Tho decorations were carried out in lemon and blue with Iceland poppies. The wedding party stood under a floral bell. A reception was later held in the P.D.C. tearooms, whero Airs. D. Prince, senr. (grandmother of the bride), wearing Salvation Army uniform, received the guests, including a number from New Plymouth, Eltham, Dannevirke, Wellington and Timaru. Numerous telegrams were received, including one from Commissioner and Airs. Adams, of Wellington. Tho usual toasts were honoured, Air. Rankin and Air. D. Prince responding to that of tho bride’s parents, and Air. AlcDougall, for the parents of tho bridegroom. Adjutant Dick replied to tho toast of the guests. When the newly-married couple left for their honeymoon, the bride wore a brown costume with brown hat and accessories.
