Women's Institutes
FOXTON The monthly meeting of the Foxton Women’s Institute was held on Thursday afternoon, presided over by Mrs. W. Trueman. A competition for handmade bedsocks was won by Mrs. T. Hughes, and a raffle for a cockerel, donated by Capt. J. R. Middleton, was won by Miss Paterson. A sale of basket work, supplied by tho Blind Institute, was well patronised. A visitor for tho afternoon was Mrs. G. Simpson, of Woodville, who gave an interesting talk on peace and home remedies. Afternoon tea was provided by the hostesses, and the hall had been decorated by the two social hostesses, Mesdames F. Proctor and T. Hughes. Invitations were received from several branches of the Women’s .Institute, and a big attraction next month will be the group rally at Shannon, where members anticipate meeting Aunt Daisy during the afternoon.
