Hockey in the City
ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE MEETS The executive of the Manawatu Hockey Association met last night, there being present: Messrs. L. Martin (in the chair), K. N. Struthers, E. Scales, J. Gallichan, H. Eade, W. J. Fitzgerald, J. D. McDonald, F. Tucker, \V. Gough, F. McLachlan, D. Wilton, E. Beale, R. L. C. Aitchison and R. A. Brace (honorary secretary). After consideration of the case of a player who had been ordered off in a match three weeks ago, it was decided to send him a letter cautioning him against a recurrence of the behaviour complained of. Mr. Fitzgerald, as manager of the Manawatu team in the match against Wellington at the Winter Show, presented a report on the game, and while expressing pleasure at the performance of the team, pointed out tiiat there had been a weakness in the wing play. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to Wellington in connection with their visit. In accordance with notice given at a previous meeting, Mr. Aitchison moved to rescind a motion granting a transfer to a player from the Broadway Club to United. After discussion, the motion was carried. It was explained that the reason for the rescinding was that the player had not met his financial obligations to the Broadway Club. Following a report by Mr. Gallichan on the registration and insurance of players, it was decided that clubs be notified of players who are defaulters in this connection, and that matches in which they take part are liable to be forfeited. Mr. Gallichan was thanked for his report. It was decided that no registrations would be accepted in future unless the necessary amount of insurance accompanies the form and the grade of the player is shown. On behalf of the Ladies * Sub-Associ-ation, Mr. Scales asked that arrangements be made for representative games. The meeting decided that the selector be asked to pick A, B, C and D teams for trial matches on July 1, and that an invitation be sent to Feilding for return matches at Palmerston North between A and B teams on July 15. In regard to the proposed inclusion of Woodville in the Manawatu boundaries, a letter was received from Mr. C. Rodgers, Manawatu’s representative on the New Zealand Hockey Association, asking for particulars of the territory it was proposed should be included in Manaw’atu, so that a notice of motion could bo sent to the New Zealand Association. The letter further stated that a special general meeting was being arranged for a date in July to consider this matter, as Wairarapa were also asking for the inclusion of additional territory. The information sought is to be forwarded. Position of The Teams. Championship tables for the three grades, as drawn up by the association *s statistician, Mr. J. Gallichan, are as follow: Senior A.
