Gay Function at P.D.C. Cabaret
Xnnuai statf ball of PREMIER DRAPERY COMPANY Members of the staff of the Premier Drapery Company found pleasant relaxation last evening in the P.D.C. Cabaret when their annual ball was held and attended with outstanding success. Effective lighting and graceful fronds of silver fern with noveL eclopliaue fir trees enhanced the appearance of the ballroom, which provided a delightful setting for the colourful and enchanting frocks oi the Ja/ies. Mr. W. M. Sexton, managing director, and Mrs. Sexton were the guests of the evening, the latter wearing a graceful frock of black floral georgette and black ring velvet evening coat. A professional orchestra kept the dancers in festive mood with their lively dance numbers, Mr. L. Smith contributing music for extra dane'es.
Committee members who worked indefatigably to ensure the enjoyment of tltir guests were:—.Miss F. Soweiby, wno wore flame cloq’wj; Miss J. Leamy, in cyclamen shaded taffeta; Miss U. Miles, petunia satin; Miss V. Mitchell, black georgette with scarlet flowers; Miss M. Tingey, green taffeta; Miss J. Heighton, pink cloque, also Messrs. VV. M. Sexton, R. M. Young, A. L. Harris and A. J. McKechnie, ably fulfilling the secretarial duties. Wives of tho committeemen present were Mrs. McKechnie, who woro pink taffeta faille and black bolero; Mrs. Young, in ivory taffeta with ruched frill and trimming of gold tissue; Mrs. Harris, peach georgette with narrow black velvet bands at the waistline.
An item much appreciated was an exhibition of the Tango Andaluz by Miss June Scott, who was effectively attired in a frilled frock of black taffeta lined with scarlet, a frilled bolero finished with pom-poms and scarlet flowers and a bolero hat, scarlet flowers also in her hair. In response to an enthusiastic encore she contributed a Spanish Tanz. Mr. L. Smith was her accompanist.
The usual lavish supper was served, after which there were novelty dances, streamers and other contributions to the evening’s fun, Messrs. Young and Harris as masters of ceremonies making certain there was never a dull moment.
