ACCENT ON YOUTH 29 Players to Make Tour of Britain (By Telegraph—Press 'Copyright.) SYDNEY, June 20. The Australian Rugby Union team cl 29 players which is to sail next month for a tour ol Britain was announced to-day. It includes 17 New South Wales players, eight Queenslanders, and four Victorians. There is a big proportion of young players, among whom is a young centre three-quarters. t>. Carrick. The team is as follows: Full-backs: R. Rankin, M. Clifford. Wing-three-quarters: M. Carpenter, V. Nicholson, B. Porter, J. Kelaher. Centre three-quarters: W. L De, L. Smith, L. Lewis, D. Carrick. Five-eighths: V. Richards. P. Collins. Half-backs: E. Gibbon, C. Ramalli. Breakaway-forwards: B. Oxenham, B. Oxlande, J. McDonald, K. Windon. Lock forwards: A. Hodgson, W. MrLean. Second-row forwards: A. Monti, S. Bissett, K. Ramsay. First-row forwards: V. Wilson, o. Pearson. J. Malone. J. Turnbull Hookers: A. Stone, A. Barr. The average weight of the backs is 11.75, and the average age is 23$ years. The forwards' averago weight is 14.115, and their average age 24. The average weight cf the team as a whole is 12.105, and their average age is 231. Wilson *ill be captain and Gibbons vice-captain of the team. There is general approval by commentators of the selectors’ work, and especially of their policy of favouring young players. Carrick was a schoolboy player last year. The only surprises were the omission of W. Cerutti, D. Cowper and R. Kelly, and the inclusion cf W. McLean, the Queensland forward. McLean's father and brother have both represented Australia at Rugby Union. Although no official designation has been given the team, it is taken for granted that it will be called the Wallabies. v -
