Oroua Downs

From Our Own Correspondent. The ladies from the Buckley (Shannon) Golf Club visited Oroua Downs over the week-end to play a match against the local ladies. Results of the play were as follows, Oroua Downs ladies mentioned first: Miss Scott halved with Miss Easton, Mrs. Howard halved with Mrs. Pope, Mrs. Nichols beat Miss Easton, Miss Pederson beat Mrs. Miss Jarvie beat Mrs. Mullins, Miss Gray beat Mrs. Simpson, Mrs. Pederson beat Miss Park, Mrs. Conlon beat Miss Roach. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea. The draw for Saturday for the captain’s medal is: Miss Scott and Mrs. Nichols, Miss Pederson and Mrs. Howard, Airs. Veale and Airs. Hobbs, Mrs. Raikes and Airs. Connell, Aliss Jarvis and Miss Burne, Airs. Pederson and Aliss Gray, Airs. Conlan and partner. The men’s golf team will visit Halcombe on Sunday to play a match there. There was a good attendance at the National Party euchre on Tuesday evening. The prize-winners were Airs. T. Dalgety and Mr. J. Hehir, the consolations going to Air. E. Christensen and Aliss L. Christensen. After supper dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Air. T. Carter. Mr. AI. Mills was M.C. The Bulls ladies’ basketball team paid a visit to Oroua Downs on Wednesday, when the visitors won by 13 goals to 11. Mr. J. Dench is on a holiday visit to Christchurch.
