rrom Our Own Correspondent Grand Concert care has been taken to provide intendin* patrons with splendid entertainment at the concert arranged to augment the funds for the construction of local baths, and it is hoped that there will be a packed hall on Monday evening next. Artists from Palmerston North have readily responded to requests for assistance, and a bright and varied programme is assured, including Miss Freda Whittaker, Miss Jean Scott and her tap ballet, Earle Andrews, the boy soprano, who was offered the opportunity to join the Viennese Boys’ Choir, the pianoaccordeon band, the Misses Olsen in character sketches. Mr. Roy Algar, Miss M Clifford (.Wellington) and many others. Pon t forget, next Monday at the Coronation Hall, Rongotea. Basketball In the Te Kawau competition last Saturday, Rongotea, playing on their own court, defeated Bulls after a close contest by 13 — 7. In the school game on Wednesday Rongotea defeated Glen Oroua by the narrow margin of 15 goals to 14. School Committee Present: W. J. Amies (chairman), L. Simonaen, C. Lind. A. Hill and H. N. Rowe. The chairman reported that ne had sent a letter of sympathy to Mr H ; Rowe. Tuesday was fixed for the school holiday for the Winter Show to fall into fine with the Show Committee s arrangement*. Vartan* attractions .will be provided on that day. Parents are urged to take advantage of the opportunity. A basketball is to be purchased for tW* use of the girls. _ Te Kawau Tennis Dance Much credit is due to the secretary, Mr. K Gooch, and his band of helpers for the for the T. Kawau tennis dance held in the Coronation Hall, which w“ taltelully decorated with streamers of orange, white and yellow, providing a bright setting for gay frocks of the ladiesThere was an attendance of close on 200, the majority of them showing their a £ f preciation by staying to the conclusion of fhe dance, which did not terminate till a late hour.
