A Run-fed Baby.
Fed on rum and skip’s biscuits as a six-weeks-old baby; first memories—a murder and Maori raiding parties wardancing outside the door of the home! That is adventuring with a vengeance (states the Auckland Star), but the story-teller is not a hard-featured old sea-dog. She is a delightful little old lady, Mrs. Catherine Burdett, who on Thursday celebrated her ninety-second birthday. All except six months of that period has been spent in the vicinity of Auckland. When an interviewer called on Mrs. Burdett where she lives with her daughter, in Gibraltar Avenue, Parnell, ho expected to find someone who would show the strain and hardship of pioneer life. There was a pleasant surprise, however, for Mrs. Burdett revealed herself as an active, gracious little lady, with a laugh that was constantly breaking through as she recalled, one incident of her career after another, each with elements to confound the ono with preconceived ideas of pioneering—and its penalties. “ MY HOLIDAY WAS RUINED ! ” The long lookcd-for event was ruined by an attack of 'flu—just because he did not carry a tin of Pulmonas. These amazing pastilles release antiseptic vapours, which destroy the germs of 'flu, colds, etc. Run no risks. Always keep Pulmonas in your pocket or handbag. 1/-, 1/(3 and 2/0.
