Yorkshireman Wins British Amateur Golf Final

In the amateur golf championship final the Yorkshireman Al’ex Kyle, defeated Lieutenant T. A. Duncan, of the Welsh Guards, two and one. The weather was windy and cloudy. Kyle’s two rounds were 80 and 71, and Duncan's 75 and 82. Kyle led the Welsh champion (the first Welshman to reach the final) one up at the end of tho first nine holes. On the homeward journey both Averc remarkably accurate. Kyle had eight single putts to his credit at the fifteenth, Duncan having squared the match at the fourteenth. Kyle Avas bunkered at the sixteenth and Duncan holed a five-yarder for four. At the eighteenth Kyle's driving let him down and he finished the first round two down. A large gallery saw tho second round, Duncan losing the lead through slicing out of bounds at the first and third holes. The pair were neck and neck until the seventh where Duncan cut his tee shot badly but again squared the match at the eighth with two fine woods. Duncan was bunkered at the ninth to stand one down. He squared at the tenth but Kyle recaptured the lead at the short thirteenth, almost holing his tee shot. He lost it at the fourteenth whore he smothered an iron and gave Duncan n chance to square. Kyle went into the lead again at the sitxeenth where Duncan took three putts. Duncan at tho next hole cut his second out of bounds and Kyle pulled an oxciting game out of the fire for a two and one A’ictorr.
