Feilding Harriers

PACK RUN OVER MAKINO BLOCK On Saturday afternoon the Feilding Harriers’ Club was to have decided a relay race from Palmerston North to Feidling but owing to a misfortune this event was postponed and the runners held a pack run around the Makino block. A good field of 14 runners divided into three packs competed in the race. The first pack to be sent off comprised the following; L. Moore, J. Gleeson, G. Whittaker, R. Evans, D. Whittaker, J. Davenport and C. Page. Five minutes later the second pack comprising H. Moss, I. Smith and J. Haycock set off and a further interval of five minutes saw E. Batten, S. Morris, R. Cleland and R. Lamberton start out. The position of the runners changed considerably along Reid’s Line and the order at Mr. J. Knight’s property was J, Haycock, H. Moss, J. Gleeson and some distance back came R. Lamberton. R. Lamberton ran home an easy winner with H. Moss just beating J. Haycock for second place and J. Gleeson fourth. Some .distance back came E. Batten fifth and E. Cleland sixth. The official placings were R. Lamberton 1, H. Moss 2, J. Haycock 3, J. Gleeson 4. No time was taken. Moss, Haycock and Gleeson all showed particularly good form. All runners were requested to attend at the Gymnasium at 7 o’clock on Wednesday evening.
