Winds Freshening Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The intense anti-cyclone which has been located over the north Tasman sea for the last week is still remaining stationary. A depression, however, is moving along its southern edge on to southern New Zealand. Winds: Light to moderate southerlies in the northern half of the North Island; elsewhere westerlies to northerlies, becoming strong at times in exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight to moderate but rising south of Cape Egmont and in Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate westerly to southerly winds and slight seas in the central and northern portions. Strong north-westerly winds and rough seas in the southern portion, but changing later to south-westerly. Weather: For the most part fair to fine. Rain at times, however, in western and southern portions of the South Island and possibly extending later to scattered parts of western districts of the North Island. Frosts likely tonight but temperatures milder to-mor-row, especially east of the ranges. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland; Overcast, light wind. Hamilton: Sun and cloud, calm.
