MAY BOGEY HANDICAP AT HOKOWHITU The competition at Hokowhitu on Saturday was the May bogey handicap and under favourable conditions and against a big field, R. G. Moore carried off the A grade honours with a fine card of 3-up. In the B grado division the winner was H. Cantrell. The leading cards were as under:— A Grade. R. G. Moore 3 up. W. J. Knights 2 up. Yortfc 38 PLAY AT AWATAPU MAY BOGEY The 14 Colonel” was up to his usual high standard during the week-end and proved too steady for most players at Awatapu. R. Harkness was at liqme with his clubs and an 83 —18—65 gave him the honour with 4 up. He is doing very well in his first season and should develop into a good player. That consistent scorer R. W. Cumberworth, who enjoys a tussle with bogey, again had three holes to his advantage. D. McDonald 1 up, B. L. Ebbett and M. The second round of this trophy produced some good matches and several unexpected eliminations occurred. B. Tremaine, who each year performs well in this event, disposed of D. Tottman on the home green. Tottman with four holes to play had the match in hand. He eased up, however, and Tremaine made up the leeway and took the match with least advantage. Strange circumstances appeared when two pairs of brothers were drawn to play in this round. C. R. Ward defeated brother F. M. Ward and now plays another brother, A. Ward. D. A. Harkness in the same round proved too steady for R. Harkneos. Entries are invited for the pewter mugs, the annual four-ball competition. MURRAY BEATS VON NIDA AUCKLAND, Last Night. The professional exhibition golf match between N. von Nida, of Australia, and Alex Murray, of Auckland, was played at the Remuera couree and it was won by Murray on the last green. Murray was two up at the turn. Murray’s figures were 36 out and 38 in, making 74, this being two over the scratch score. Vou Nida’a halves were 39 and 37 and his total 76.
