RACE WON BY QUEENSLAND IN RECORD TIME PEARCE RETAINS SINGLE SCULLS TITLE United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. BRISBANE, May 14. Tho Australian eight-oar championship for the King's Cup, the title holders of which, Western Australia, did not compete this year, was won by Queensland with New South Wales second and South Australia third. Victoria finished second but were disqualified for passing a buoy on the wrong side. Queensland won by one and threequarters lengths, there being two lengths between New South Wales and South Australia. Tho time, 14 minutes 30 seconds, is an Australian record. Tho Australian sculling championship was won by the titloholder, C. Pearce (New South Wales), by seven lengths. L. Cook (Tasmania) was second and R. Proctor (Queensland) third. The time was 14 minutes, five seconds, which is an Australian record.
