From Our Own Correspondent. Awahuri Memorial Hall was filled to capacity on the occasion of tne euchre and dance promoted on behalf of the Labour Party. The local branch has something to be proud of in its successful functions which draw large crowds from far and near. The supper-room was crowded with euchre players, who obviously enjoyed the game. The winners were: Ladies, Miss E. Tate 1, Mrs. Poananga 2; men, Mr. Perewhlti 1, Mr. K. Lewis 2. A I competition was won by Mrs. C. Edmonds (Sanson). The hall was decorated for t?.e occasion and created a colourful background for the many lovely frocks. Sup 1 per was served by the social committee and helpers. Among those present were Mesdames Hines, black and white satin; jD. Whittle, gold satin; M. Brown, P?nk lace; R. Nelson, black lace: Bolton, blue net; Neilsen, floral satin; Rennett, floral { brocaded taffeta; ffpencer, gold satin and lame; O’Malley, black satin; Graham, scarlet floral crepe; Bartlett, midnight blue georgette; Perego, floral georgette; M. McKenna, old gold and black; McGuire, apricot satin; and Misses M. de Van tier, apricot crepe do chine; J. Whealens, pink lace; R. Dunstan, black lace; R. Bowers, gipsy taffeta net; R. Bar low, tangerine and black georgette and lace; Y. Bennett, black georgette, black evening coat; M. Martin, white organdie; F. Doherty, black satin; J. Elstone, eggshell blue crepe de chine; and many others. Mr. A. Bond, president of the branch, returned thanks to all present for their patronage and announced that there would be similar functions at intervals. An extra was played by Mr. Poananga. Personal and General Friends of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Goodman will be pleased to hear that their daughter Joyce is home from hospital and will wish her a speedy recovery to health. Mr. G. H. Lucas is staying in Awahuri and is renewing acquaintance with all his old friends. Colds and influenza are prevalent at the moment. Quite a number of residents have suffered from the latter.
