Tokomaru
From Our Own Correspondent. The Tokomaru Women’s Institute birthday party was held recently. Music was supplied by Mel Creighton and extras were played by Miss Maire Morgan. Mr. W. Bond was M.C. The evening was' a great success and a large number attended. Mrs. Easton, president of the Shannon Institute, presented Mrs. McNab with a bouquet of chrysanthemums and fern. Mrs. Bolstad presented Mrs. McNab with a bouquet of dahlias and fern on behalf of the Tokomaru Institute members. Mrs. McNab presented Mrs. Easton with a bouquet, Shannon being the only sister institute to attend the birthday. Mrs. McNab also presented Mrs. Atkinson (librarian) with a bouquet. Mrs. R. Carmichael, of Raetihi, one of Tokomaru’s youngest-oldest members, was asked to light the candles on the birthday cake tfnrl Mrs. Boote, one of the oldest members, blew them out and also cut the cake. Euchre for non-dancers resulted as follows: Ladies, Mrs. Atkinson 1. Mrs. M. Parr (Shannon) 2; men, Mr. Jarrat (Wellington) 1, Mr. Bakmau 2. A Lucky Gay Goi'dons was won by Miss G. Schwass and Mr. Bakman. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss M. Pope and L. Triggell. Among those present were: Mesdames J. McNab, violet velvet and bla’Mt fur; D. Atkinson, black net; R.
