The Earl of Plymouth has resigned the Parliamentary Secretaryship of Foreign Affairs for health reasons, states a cablegram from London.
Mr. Eric J. Sheldon, who has organised the entire New Zealand tour of Chang, the. famous Chinese magician, and his company, is in Palmerston North arranging for the local season which opens on Monday week at the Opera House. Mr. A. W. Britton, of Hastings, has taken up duties as pilot instructor to the Marlborough Aero Club. A member of the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Aero Clubs, Mr. Britton has nearly 400 flying hours to his credit, and recently qualified for his instructor’s license. Mr. D. W. Woodward, secretary of tho Bureau of Industry, has been awarded a Common ..ealth {Service Fellowship to study public administration and industrial planning in tho United {States of America. Mr. Woodward expects to bo away for ajiout two years. Mr. H. Rochfort, of Wanganui, has arrived in Christchurch to take up his duties as principal of the new Christchurch South Intermediate {School.
