Investigation into Finance Company’s Affairs

AUCKLAND COMPANY INVOLVED United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Thursday, 9.5 p.m. SYDNEY, May 11. An investigation of the affairs of the Scottish Loan and Finance Company, Limited, was opened to-day by v the Official Assingee acting under instructions from the provisional liquidator who was appointed yesterday by the Equity Court. Detectives have hitherto collected all the books and records pending a hearing of the petition for the winding up of the company. The Equity Court was informed that a cheque for £SOO had been sent by the Auckland brokers, C. J. Green, limited, as the proceeds of a sale of preference shares and that Albert Levitus, chairman of the company, had given directions that this cheque be paid into his private account. Levitus had thereupou been relieved of his duties as chairman.
