Notes of the Day

In the Palmerston North Supreme Court yesterday a discharge from bankruptcy was granted Cecil John Jepson (Mr. T. L. Seddon, Feilding), carrier, of Taringamutu, formerly of Feilding. Next Tuesday at the fortnightly lunch of the Feilding Civic Club, the speaker-guest will be Mr. W. M. Sexton, manager of the P.D.C., Palmerston North. Mr. Sexton, who will speak on “Winter Sports in South Canterbury,” was for some years a resident of Timaru and is an ex-president of the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce.

The first of a series of card evenings sponsored by the Feilding Foresters’ Lodge is being held in the Foresters’ Hall this evening and providing sufficient inducement is forthcoming,* these evenings will become a regular feature. Good prizes, together with popular prices should assure the success of the enterprise.

Cr. T. Green was yesterday elected to represent the Oroua County Council at the forthcoming Counties Conference. At the statutory annual meeting of tre Feilding Domain Board, whose functions concern the control of Kowhai Park, last evening, the Mayor, Mr. T. L. Seddon, was re-elected chairman while the formal annual report was adopted.
