Monthly Meeting
OVERSEER’S REPORT The monthly meeting of the Pahiatua County Council was held yesterday and the overseor, Mr. S. Macrae, presented the following report: — The mechanical shovel lias been employed at Hall’s Road in conjunction with the crusher, where metal for winter maintenance has been procured. The trucks have been engaged on the Mangaone Highway and also on roads at Mangahao and NgaturL The graders have been employed on all of the main highways and also on roads at Ballance, Konini, Kaitawa and Mangatainoka. Main Highways. Pahiatua-Pongaroa.- Slips have been removed and a wash-out has been repaired. Fifty yards of metal has been utilised for patching and all loose metal has been graded in. A line of 30-inch pipes is at present being laid on the Pongaroa Hill section. Makuri-Mangatoro: Surface has been patched and graded and bridge decks have been repaired. Station Road: Shoulders have been trimmed and drains have been opened. Pahiatua - Mangaone : Metalling throughout has been completed and a line of 12-inch pipes has been laid. The widening contract at the Tane Gorge has progressed slowly but an improvement can now be expected here. Tutaekara: All loose metal has been graded in and decking planks on the Tutaekara bridge have been repaired. County Roads. Railway-Ballance Gorge: Slips have been removed and bridge decks have been repaired. Road has been graded thorughout and the Mangahao Bridge has been repaired. Mangahao-Valley: Surface has been patched and road has been heavily graded. A line of 12-inch pipes has been laid and overhanging scrub has been cut. Ballance township: The contractor for the erection of the roadman’s dwelling is making good progress and this building should be completed during the current month. Palmerston Track: Slips have been removed and road has been graded. Makomako-Tutaekara: A considerable amount of storm damage has been mado good, and grading has been attended to. Kopikopiko-Nae Nae: General sur-face-work has been carried out and three lines of nine-inch pipes have been laid on the Nae Nae section. Nikau-Gardner’s Ford: Grading has been carried out. Scarborough-Konini: Surface has been repaired and all loose metal has been graded in. Mangamaire-Pukewhai: Road has been graded. Ridge Central: Water-tables have been cleaned and a line of 12-inch pipes has been laid. Fifty cubic yards of metal has been used for surface patching. Rock-Makakahi: Water-tables have been cleaned out and visibility at several points has been improved. Konini township: Metal has been graded in. Mangaramarama-Tiraumea North: Slips have been removed and the deck of Dorset’s bridge has been repaired. Mangatainoka township: General surface-work has been attended to. Ruawhata; Water-tables have been cleaned and metal has been graded in. Tiraumea North: Surface has beeu patched and graded. Oete-Ngaturi: Water-tables have been cleaned. The contractor for the Oeto Hill widening has completed his work, subject to several minor details receiving attention. Kohinui-Towai: Slips have been removed and scrub has been cut. A line of nine-inch pipes has beeu laid. Woodvillo-Aohanga: General surfacework has been attended to. Pori-Ivaitawa Ridge: Slips have been removed and a line of nine-inch pipes has been laid. Metal repairs to the Pori Hill will be attended to when trucks are in this locality. Tiraumea Valley: Water-tables have been cleared and metal has been graded in. A line of 36-inch pipes which are necessary near Clapham’s are at present being laid.
