Annual Festival YESTERDAY’S AWARDS The 1939 annual festival of the Manawatu Competitions Society was continued yesterday, much interest being taken in the various classes during the morning and afternoon, and a large audience gathering at the Opera House in the evening, when an excellent programme was offered. A really good section, very interesting to judge, said the judge. The interpretation was good throughout and the technique was fairly good. Operatic test dance, under 13: Pauline Matthews (Wellington) 1, Therese Griffin (Wanganui) 2, Lorna Senter (Palmerston North) and Cherry Potbury (Palmerston North) 3, Audrey Wilton (Palmerston North) v.h.c., Shirley Webster (Wanganui) h.c.; 29 entries. The winner did every step correctly and was most artistic, said the judge. The second girl was not quite right in just one step.
