From Our Own Correspondent. Rangitikei Rugby Results at a glance:— Senior: Halcombe 6 v. Old Boys 3 Hunterville 8 v. Bulls 5.

Juniors: Old Boys 14 v. Halcombe 3; I-lunterville 6 v. Ohingaiti 3; Rata v. Bulls postponed. Thirds: Old Boys 13 v. Hunterville 3, Bulls 8 v. Flock House 5. A large crowd witnessed a hard-fought game on the Marton Park between Old Boys and Halcombe. The teams were: — Halcombe (yellow and black): Jim Hughes, Blunden, Taite, Karatau, P. Williams, Hartley, J. Hughes. Bradley, D. Hughes, Faye, Pye, I. Miles, Schwass, Williams, Fitness. Old Boys (blue): A. Watt, L. Moss, A. Bush, Coles, W. Bush, Marshall, Ireland, Glasgow, Oliver, Stewart, Gardiner, Partridge, Johns, Johnston, Gordon. Halcombe kicked off and Moss treated the crowd to a thrill when lie raced down the line, fending off several would-be taeklers, reverse passed to Coles, w r ho crossed the line well out, but unfortunately the score was disallowed on account of Moss stepipng on the sideline. An Old Boys forward was off-side and S. Hartley piloted the ball over the bar— Halcombe 3, Old Boys 0. Old Boys’ powerful combination, Coles and Moss, was destroyed when, alter a hard tackle. Moss had to go off with an injured wrist, 13mmett taking his place on the wing. After the resumption play of a very willing nature ensued in the forwards, the referee having to caution both teams. Shortly after Nuku Williams (Halombe) was ordered off. From a scrum A. Bush was caught off-side, Hartley making no mistake with the kick—Halcombe 6, Old Boys 0. After willing play, which went from one end of the field tu the other, Karatau was caught off-side, and Watt goaled— Halcombe 6, Old Boys 3. The crowd were

then treated to a spectacular piece of play when A. Bush ran 50 yards and passed to W. Bush, who kicked ahead. Coles fdl lowed up fast but the ball rolled into the dead ball area and a certain try was lost. The game ended soon after with the score unchanged (Halcombe 6, Old Boys 3) and thus Halcombe retained the Raymond Cup. Mr. 1. Ross was the referee.

In the third grade game on the park between I-lunterville and Old Boys, played as a curtain -raiser to the senior game, Old Boys ran out winners by 13 to 3. Scorers for Old Boys were Kingham and Hendra, tries, J. Evans a “pot” and Kingham a penalty, and for Hunterville, Floyd put over a penalty.

The West Coast harriers opened their season at Marton on Saturday; 70 runners faced the starter. A run in was held, results being as follows:—Slow pack: L. Hickman (Wanganui) 1. J. Taylor (Marton) 2, L. Loveridge (Wanganui) 3. Fast pack: Weller (P.X. Y.M.C.A.) J. W. Hearsey (P.N. Y.M.C.A.) 2, R Lamberton (Feilding) 3. The visitors wore afterwards entertained at afternoon tea, when speeches were made by the president and representatives from other clubs.
