Methodist Church

The circuit quarterly meeting of the Woodville Methodist Church was held on Thursday evening, Rev. T. Coatsworth presiding over a fair attendance of officials. The membership returns were reported as the same as the previous quarter, these having been one removal and one addition to the church roll. The bal-ance-sheet for the quarter showed a credit balance of £5, after wiping out debit balances from previous quarters. The harvest thanksgiving subscriptions had been very successful, showing the wisdom of substituting this method of straight-out giving over that of tho annual bazaar. The reports from the youth department, Sunday School, Bible Classes and Wesley Guild showed that good work was being done. A lengthy discussion on the question, “What more can bo done to promote the work of God?” took place and tho necessity of more prayer both in the church and in the homes of tec people was stressed and also more regular attendance at all the services of the church. Arrangements were made for the visit at the end of June of Rev. A. H. Scriven, Dominion foreign mission secretary.
