KUMEROA-lIOPELANDS Tho first meeting of the year was held on Wednesday last when Mrs Norman presided over a good attendance. Miss M. Jones read the motto for the day. The roll-call “Suggestions for Future Programmes,” brought forth improved ideas from the members. A letter of thanks was received from Mrs Dickens who is at present on a visit to Australia. Mrs T. Bryant, one of the delegates appointed to the Woodville Council meeting is unable to go and Mrs Norman has been, selected to take her place. Miss T. Kemp gave an interesting demonstration on tatting, and had a fino display of work. All of the members showed a very keen interest, and a hearty vote of thanks was given to Mrs Kemp. The competitions for the day were, “Best bloom in the Garden,” which was won by Miss Elaine Wareham with Miss Dorothy Mabey 2. Tho best jam jar of chrysanthemums was won by Mrs lan Mackay and Mrs J. Little 2. The three best blooms were won by Mrs J. 0 ’Ney with Mrs Mackay 2. Miss E. Eadcs was elected a member. Dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. Mrs Hills and the Misses Brown and Bridges.
