Pillion Rider Killed

COLLISION WITH BICYCLE Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Head injuries from which he died in the Christchurch Hospital this morning were suffered by Edward Joseph Brocherie, aged 25, single, of 9 Maxwell Street, Riccarton, when he was thrown from a motor-cycle on Lincoln Road shortly after midnight on Saturday. Brochcrio was a pillion passenger on the machine which was ridden by his brother Clarence B. Brocherie. The motor-cycle collided with a bicycle which was being pushed by a pedestrian and then swerved and overturned. The rider of the motor-cycle was not injured. A motor-cyclist, James William Smith, aged 44, married, of Plymouth Road, suffered a broken right leg and his hand was lacerated when he collided with a car on tho main road near Oakura at 6.45 on Saturday night. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED CONDITION CONSIDERED SERIOUS Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Severe concussion and scalp wounds were received by Ronald John Scott, aged 21, apprentice in the Hutt Valley Railway workshops, when a motor cycle he was riding became involved in a collision with a motor-car in Lower Hutt at 6 p.m. this evening. He was taken to the Wellington Public Hospital, and at a late hour to-night his condition was reported serious. MISSING CAR CRASHES YOUTH FOUND UNCONSCIOUS OVER WHEEL Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Hearing a rending crash at 2.20 this morning, a constable ran into a New Plymouth back street and found a wrecked car against a pole, with a youth unconscious over the steering rod. In his hands was the broken wheel. He was taken to hospital, where his condition is satisfactory. The car was taken from outside the police station on Saturday night and was one of three cars missed, by owners that night.
