Annual Meeting of W.D.F.U.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS Mrs. W. F. Day presided over the annual meeting of the Pahiatua branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, which was held in the county council room recently. After tho creed had been read the balancesheet presented by the treasurer, Mrs. J. A. Gibson, was read and adopted, and the secretary, Mrs. W. D. Harris, presented the annual report. Mrs. W. Gilbert took the opportunity to hand the president, Mrs. W. F. Day, a bouquet of pink carnations and maidenhair fern, and voiced the appreciation of members of Mrs. Day’s excellent leadership. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. W. F. Day; vice-presidents, Mrs. W. Gilbert, Airs. J. D. Piper, Mrs. W. E. C. Tylee, Mrs. R. A. Wilson; housekeeper-secretary and treasurer, Mrs. J. A. Gibson; recording secretary, Mrs. W. D. Harris; committee, Mesdames W. Fulton (Kohinui), L. Holdaway, J. Brernner and Miss Gibson (Ballance), Mesdames C. Smith and J. Miller (Konini), W. Fergus (Ruawhata), F. W. Ward (Mangatainoka), H. Cornelius (Mangahao), F. W. Ebbett (Makomako), 11. Kelsey (Pori), Geo. Russell and David Crewe (Pahiatua); advisory members, Mrs. W. Gilbert and Miss Whitmore Searle.
Mrs. Day took the opportunity to read the Dominion president ’ a monthly message. Mrs. Day also requested that all cases of illness of members should be reported to her or to a committee member. At present there were two members very ill and tho secretary was instructed to write letters of sympathy to them. It was decided to hold tho birthday party in June. Afternoon tea brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
