RUGBY IN FEILDING

Practice Commences This Evening GAME AT FEILDING ON SATURDAY Although the prevailing weather conditions are far from being suitable for the approaching Rugby football season the Manawatu season programme has been fixed and players are, therefore, obliged to get into training. However, there is not over-much enthusiasm concerning the immediate future. The weather definitely lacks that atmosphere necessary to induce the football feeling and intending players are talking a great deal about the hard grounds which they will be called upon to play on. There is no doubt about the grounds being extremely hard and baked and it may not be in the best interests of the game or the players to make a real start with the competitions while the drought continues;

This evening the Feilding Old Boys Club will commence practice at Johnston Park and all players are required to attend to prepare for the first practice game of the season which will take place on Johnston Park on Saturday against a Wanganui fifteen. The Waituna West Football Club will

hold its annual meeting to-morrow evening at the Waituna Hall at 8 o’clock.
