Mangamaire Women’s Institute

SEVENTH BIRTHDAY DANCE Ua Friday night the Mangamaire Women's Institute held their seventh , birthday. Dancing and items entertain- j ed the many folk that attended, the party being a very jolly one. The management was entirely in the hands of the members themselves. The president (Mrs. H. Henderson) and Mrs. M. Bruce were the M.C’s., and all members took an active part in the proceedings. Items were rendered by the Misses hi. Moriarty (elocution), P. J. Lawson (organ melodies), L. F. A. Ralph and Allan Welch (songs). Mrs. Hirst senr. (Konini president) and Mrs. Hobbs (Hamua president), who were presented with bouquets, congratulated Mangamaire ou its birthday and conveyed greetings from their respective institutes. A beautiful cake with seven candles had place of honour and these two ladies wero invited to light tho candles and extinguish them. Mrs. H. Henderson cut the cake. Points prizes for the year's work yrere awarded to Miss M. Baron, first, and Misses B. McPherson and E. Moriarty tied for second place. Mrs. Leg. Wards, on behalf of fellowmembers, presented to the president an emblem of goodwill, in appreciation of her services.' The secretary read apologies from members unable to attend.

Mr. L. Hartley supplied the dance assisted by Misses P. J. Lawson and M. Baron. Prizes for the novelty dances were won by Miss M. Baron and Mr. J. Welch. Supper was supplied by members.
