Defaulter Revels in Muddy Conditions
HEAVY RAINS GIVE TRAINERS HEADACHES United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph-—Copyright, Received Wednesday, 12.20 a.m. SYDNEY, April 4. Unless the weather improves in the next day or two there are likely to be some worried owners and trainers of important horses engaged at Randwick on Saturday. Nearly five inches of rain has fallen in the Metropolitan area since last Saturday and the prospects at present aro not hopeful. Training operations aro meanwhile disorganised. Few trainers to-day attempted to send their horses at top speed. Defaulter, Hamurah and Mosaic revelled in the conditions. Defaulter covered a solid nine furlongs and finished strongly. lie appears to be exceedingly lit. High Caste went easy over five furlongs, while neither Malagigi nor L'Aiglon was extended over a mile. Gold Rod, Spear Chief, The Trump and Sal Volatile did steady work. Feminist, who is a Sydney Cup candidate, recorded the first-rate time of 2.13 for the mile and a-quarter. Respirator and Marauder worked usefully over the same distance.
