HERBERT MUNDIN FATALLY INJURED IN CAR SMASH United Press Association.—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright. Received Monday, 7 p.m. HOLLYWOOD, March 5. Herbert Muudin, aged 41, the film comedian, was killed instantly when the car in which he was riding collided with another at a street intersection. The impact threw open the door, throwing Mundiu to the roadway, fracturing his skull and crushing his chest. The other occupants of tho car were not injured. Probably one of the most popular comedians on tho English stage of his day, the lato Mr. Herbert Mundiu extended this popularity to New Zealand audiences when ho toured tho Dominion with J. C. Williamson’s production of “Tho Desert Song” about 15 years ago. Several years later he forsook the stage for the screen, going to Hollywood, where ho soon established himself us a comedian and actor of high order. His greatest success was his role in “Cavaleado'” about live jears ago, siuco when ho had contented himself with minor tarts. He lias been acclaimed by foremost critics as being one of tho leading comedians on tho screen. His popularity with English film audiences was as unquestioned as that of his earlier stago performances.
