The brakes failed to act. The ownerdriver jumped out of his car to attend the young lady who lay in front of it. Later he told the story. “X immediately got out my mirror and held it up to her lips to see if she were still breathing.” Friend: ‘‘Was she breathingl” Motorist: “I have no idea. As soon as sho saw the mirror she screamed, pulled out lipstick and powder and began facial repairs.”
