From the Hub
DEAR COGS, I think you let Mr. Puzzleman get the better of you rather easily this week. Have a look at the answers to the Skilltest and see if you don’t agree. How many of you have tried caravanning, I wonder. That was my happy privilege for the first time recently and now I am all for buying a caravan. Having camped quite often under all sorts of conditions in rain, hail and shine, I know all about making fires with wet wood, flapping tents and things that creep and crawl by night. But with a cosy caravan fitted up with gas stove, electric light, bunks and all the gadgets that make for comfort one can feel very superior and ready to burst into song as to ‘“Where My Caravan Has Rested.” I know now why “Aunt Jane” left the Page and took to caravan life. When next we see her we shall expect to find her quite the gipsy, and we won’t be surprised if she takes a big step up into the Den, or jumps as she goes out again. Did you know that Uncle Bob had a fine new caravan? When you see one that is a soft shade of grey with pretty fawn and red curtains being pulled along by a nice red car salute and say “Hullo! Uncle Bob!” That will be a nice ambition for our budding carpenters—to make a caravan for Mum and Dad. Well, dears, do your best to beat Mr. Puzzleman this week and let us have a nice lot of newsy letters. Your friend, THE HUB.
