The Tanglmoana Sunday school, which has been conducted for many years by Miss L. D. Houghton and Mrs J. Penney, and capably assisted latterly by Mr N. Rowe, held Its annual prize-giving on Sunday last, when there was a large attendance of pupils and friends. Mr N. F.
Rowe, of Rongotea, addressed the children. The following is the list of prizewinners: Margaret, Grace. Duncan and Robert Young, Tom, Cliff and Keith Birkinshaw, Nada and Barbara Wildbore. Murray, Valma, and Rex Carkeek, Joy Kyle, Helen Penney and Margaret Nant. Special prizes were awarded to Helen Penney for conduct and to Murray CYiraeek and Valma Carkeek for attendance. During the week-end launches were able to get out fishing and several good catches of schnapper and gurnett were made. Launch owners report on the
number of porpoises about just now and the residents think that probably the shark reported to have scared bathers on a previous Sunday was perhaps only a porpoise. They are often seen quite close in. Sharks, on the other hand, although quite often caught by fishermen out at sea, have never yet bean known to come within sight of tills part of the coast.
