“An { iron lung’ for the Palmerston North Hospital Ms on order from the Lord Nuffield gift, and it will be very valuable,” said the medical superintendent of the Palmerston North Hospital, Dr. J. H. North, when the matter of sending patients to Auckland and Wellington this week was referred to him. Dr. North added that the occasion was the first on which the use of an “iron lung” had become necessary at the hospital, and it was by chance that two cases involving the use of this equipment had occurred simultaneously.
