Rev. Father J. A. Higgins, S.M. organiser of Catholic Action in thi Archdiocese of Wellington, left Auck land by the Awatea to attend a Catho lie Action Conference at Melbourne.
Rev. S. H. Dewdnev, and Mrs. Dewdney, members of the London Missionary Society, who have been stationed at Drokolo, Papua, for four years, arrived from Port Moresby by the Tasman. They will proceed to Sydney on furlough.
Dr. S. H. Swift, a former New Zealander in th'e Malay Medical Service, arrived by the Tasman from Singapore on furlough. Dr. Swift will visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Swift, of St. Ivilda, Dunedin, and will then proceed to England before returning tc the East.
Yen. Archdeacon H. A. Skelton who was one time curate at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Auckland, has been appointed Suffragan Bishop of Bedford in the in the diocese of St. Albans, England. H-e graduated as a Master of Arts from Oxford University, and was ordained as a priest in 1912. For about six years he was chaplain to the late Earl of Rosebery.
