CRICKET IN FEILDING
Even Scoring In Senior Games NOMADS LEAD OLD BOVS BOWLING FAVOURS PUBIJO SERVICE New games in the senior cricket competition at Feilding opened on Saturday in excellent weather conditions. Nomads opened against Old Boys and. made 141. The opening partnership between A. W'aldin and Parsonson contributed over 60 to the total and gave, promise of a much greater tally. J. Dewe claimed four of Nomads’ wickets for 23‘ runs. In reply, Old Boys made 134, of which Connell provided 43. The Jinal partnership between MacLeod and Parkes produced 30 runs—a welcome contribution to a difficult innings, in which Maurice Waldin claimed six wickets for 42 runs. Nomads opened their second innings shortly before time and at stumps had made 19 without the loss of a wicket. Meeting Public Service, Feilding batted first, and perhaps the knowledge that two at least of their team would be required elsewhere before the afternoon was out accounted for the fluctuating individual scores. The player most concerned was W. Dunn, who was due to bo married at 6 o ’clock. He played brightly and made top score of 58 and then rushed off the field to prepare for his marriage. The innings closed for a total of 181. With. Dunn and Carter away, the latter to assist at the wedding, Feilding was without two good bowlers, and Service took full advantage of this in their strike. At time Service had lost six wickets for 153, of which W. H. Smith had contributed 64 and Barltrop, not out, 32. These games will be concluded on Saturday next.
In the ‘junior games Public Service defeated Old Boys by an innings and over 30 runs, while Union defeated High School on the first innings. Details:—
