Feilding Live Stock Sale
STOBE LAMB VALUES STRONGER Held on Saturday, the weekly live stock sale at Feilding attracted excellent entries with a good attendance of operators. In consequence of a rather heavy clearance of fat lambs, duo to the very much improved weather conditions experienced lately, the stoic lamb market was definitely stronger and values rose appreciably on late rates.
A few pens of breeding ewes were offered, and the sales recorded indicated that ewe values are likely to be on the low side as the fairs approach. Fat Sheep A short yarding of fat sheep included several small pens of lambs, mostly lightweights, which sold according to schedule rates. Wether mutton was round about late rates. Offered in small lots, the lambs sold us follows:—9 at 16s 9d, 11 at 17s 6d, 5 at 19s Id, 7 at 19s 4d, 2 at 19s 3d, 7 at 19s 7d, and 2 at 22s Id. For wethers M. J. Hehir received ISs 2d to 18s 4d for a line of 15 good sheep. On account of Bussell Bros., two wethers realised 18s lOd. For an offering of 16 blackface 2-ths. J. Print received 17s Id to 17s 6d. A more attractive pen of blackfaces yarded on account of Mrs. A. Beazor realised 18s. Store Sheep A pen of shorn wether lambs offered on account Bussell Bros, made 14s 9d, there being 90 in the line. The Perry Estate disposed of 127 shorn wether lambs at 9s Bd. On account of the Clare Estate, Waituna, a line of 329 wether lambs sold in lots to suit buyers at 14s Bd, 14s lOd, 15s Id. Eketahuna wether lambs, woolly, on account of V. Capes made 9s 9d. A. Lloyd, Hunterville, sold a pen of 99 5 and 6-year ewes at 9s 3d. A pen of 200 b.f.’s on account of the Perry Estate sold at 11s 2d. H. E. Port’s 40 2-th. wethers realised 15s lid. Messrs. Short and Son sold a pen of 34 ewe lambs at 10s 3d. Quotations are: Wether lambs, shorn, 7s Bd, 9s Bd, 12s 3d, 14s Bd, 14s 9d, 14s lOd, 15s Id; wooHy, 7s 6d, 9s 9d, 10s 4d, 10s Bd, 11s Id, 14s 6d; ewe lambs, 7s lOd, 9s 4d, 10s 3d; 2 and 4-th. ewes, 16s 6d; 4 and 5-th. ewes, l‘3s; 6-yn. ewes, l£s 6d; 5 and 6-yr. ewes, 9s 3d, 12s 6d; aged ewes, 5s Bd. Station Cattle A pen of cows and calves made £5 Is, heifers £3 10s, Hereford and P.A. steers £5 12s. On account E. and J. Grady, 87 P.A. steers made £4 15s, 15 do. £5 Is, and another pen at £3 14s. Two bullocks on the same account made £6 14s. A pen of 39 P.A. bullocks on account R. A. Yule made £8 19s. Shorthorn and Hereford steers with 12 in the line made £G, while a pen of 13 bullocks made £6 19s. Fat Cattle L. A. J. Hensen sold a pen of 2 P.A. cows at £6 10s, 3 at £6 15s, and 3 at £7. Cows sold at £4, £4 7s 6d, £4 10s, £4 .15s, £5, £5 ss, £5 7s 6d. In the dairy ring a heifer r.w.b. made £B. Store cows realised £2 ss, £2 15s, £3 16s, £4.
