P. Hawksworth Wins North Island Tennis Title

THREE CHAMPIONSHIPS FINALISED Per Press Association. MASTERTON, Last Night. With the exception of the combined doubles, all the finals have been concluded at the North Island tennis championships. P. Hawksworth, New Zealand badminton singles champion, played brilliantly to defeat R. McL. Ferkins, Wellington, in the men's final. Two Hawke's Bay players, Mrs. G. Cotterill and Miss M. Glenny, met in the women's final, the latter winning in straight sets. The men's doubles were won by Ferkins and Ferkins, who beat Painter and Kidycr in the final, after disposing of the Wairarapa title holders, Ilawksworthand G. A. Pearce, in the semi-final.
