Abyssinian Natives Unconquered

ITALIAN OFFICERS SHOT LONDON, Jan. 5. Representatives of the former Abyssinian Government have presented t« tho League of Nations documents datec June SO, containing Italian appeal* dropped from the air in various parts of Abyssinia calling on the native chiefs to surrender. These, it is claimed, show that Abyssinia is still unconquered. The Abyssinians have also forwarded to Geneva copies of letters found in the pockets of Italian officers who have been killed in ambushes, showing that the Italians are unable to leave their isolated garrisons, otherwise they arc inevitably shot by natives. One letter says: “The Abyssinians appear to submit, but as soon as our backs are turned, wo are shot. My battalion has just lost 50 men.”
