Manawatu Junior Cricketers

Third Successive Win at Hastings CHAMPIONSHIP WON From Our Own Correspondent. HASTINGS, Last Night. Tlie junior cricket week at Cornwall Park, Hastings, was continued yesterday when the third and final series of inter-town matches was played. Manawatu once again revealed themselves as a strong all-round side and collected their third successive victory to prove themselves the champion team of tho competition. Manawatu were playing Napier yesterday and emerged victorious by 130 runs on the first innings. During the game L. Hart (Manawatu) scored a century, this being the second recorde* during the week. Hastings A collected a victory over Hastings B to take second place honours for the competition. To-day is an off-day with the team and arrangements have been made to give the visitors a motor tour round the district. To-morrow the Manawatu team will meet a Hawke’s Bay junior grade eleven in what is to be a two-day representative fixture. Details of yesterday’s play are as follow: Manawatu v. Napier. First use of the wicket went to Manawatu who again provided a splendid exhibition of run-getting, the outstanding performer being L. Hart, who opened the innings and at the conclusion of his century retired. The side declared the innings closed at 240 for nine wickets and then dismissed Napier for 110 runs to collect an easy win on the first innings. Scores:— MANAWATU L. Hart, retired 100 C.
