America’s Aerial Reserve

TRAINING OF STUDENTS WASHINGTON, Dec. 27. President Roosevelt told a press conference that the Government would soon begin training 20,000 university students between the ages of 18 and 24 every year as expert pilots, giving the United States one of the largest aerial reserves in the world. The plan will be placed on an experimental basis in 1939 with 300 students. The entire plan will cost 9,800,000 dollars. The training will give the students pilots’ licences, but they will not receive practice in combat flying.
