A CAR FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Youth Goes Camping OBJECT OF CURIOSITY IN WOODVILLE Beneath a cartoon of the Alinistor of Transport, Hon. R. Semple, was his title and these lines: “Says he: “This speeding business has to stop and no bulldozing, either! “Says we: “This car can do no more than 30, so we are no wiser.” This and other captions of humorous variety were plastered upon an automobile of ancient and celebrated manufacture, origin Canada, which stood iu Vogel Street on Tuesday afternoon. It 3 occupants, judging from tho gear within, were camping-holiday bound and adding not a little zest to their excursion by giving the Hon. Alinister’s recent road safety campaign some topical publicity, possibJ}- far more effectively than the major appeal of the campaign by way of the baser instinct of fear. Certainly this car attracted considerable attention from Woodville people who gleefully read the notices displayed. Complied With All Regulations. Passing motorists, too, craned their nocks to catch a glimpse of the curiosity as they went by. Prominent upon tho back of the car was a notice to “speed cops,” reading “No business to-day,” and again quoting the maximum volition of tho vehicle Another placard wittily enumerated the “Government” tests complied with by the car, which upon another part was described by its owners as having “No gears, no fuss, no fumes, no brakes, no hope, no holiday (no how), guaranteed made in Hong Kong.” Considering all these advantages, together with references to a knee action of the “knock knock,” variety and “feet through the floor brakes,” and an allusion to “the junks of the China Sea. ’ ’

It is thought that this unusual contraption would provide all the material for au exciting holiday even though its paint seemed fresh from tho secondhand shop.
