Funeral Services

MRS. W. BAKER, OF FEILDING. On Thursday at the Feilding Cemetery, the funeral of Mrs. Esther Baker, widow of Mr. William Baker, of Milkino, took place, following a largely attended service in the Methodist Church, which was conducted by Pastor ’C. A. Lafcta. The singing of appropriate hymns was led by Mr. H. Crump. Pastor Latta referred to the sterling qualities of the deceased lady, who had throughout her life been guided by Christian principles. A lengthy cortege followed the remains to the cemetery. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs W. and N. Bramweil, E. E. Craine, I. Taylor, P. A. Howell and W. D. R. Baker. Numerous beautiful floral tributes were received, including one from the Baptist Women’s Mission Union. Mrs. Baker came to New Zealand in 1875 in the sailing ship Waipa, and was thus a pioneer settler at Makino. There are 32 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren. Those privileged to know the late Mrs. Baker, loved her for her kindly nature, depth of religion, faith and practice. INFANT DAUGHTER OF MR. AND MRS. R. MACKINTOSH On Wednesday afternoon there gathered from far afield many relatives and friends at the residence, Warwick Street, Feilding, of Mr. and Mrs. R. Mackintosh, to attend the funeral of their beloved daughter Barbara. Sincere sympathy was expressed to the parents and relatives in their sudden bereavement, this being further evidenced by the innumerable messages of condolence and beautiful floral tributes received. Rev. A. L. Dixon, Presbyterian minister, conducted the services both at the residence and at the graveside at the Feilding Cemetery. The little casket was borne to the hearse by near relatives, namely, Messrs A. E. Dewe, J. Dewe, H. Dewe and F. Dewe, and Messrs Norman and Horace Robson, of Hastings, ana M. Worsfold, of Carterton, and near friends assisted with the wreaths. Among the wreaths were those of the Feilding staff of the flour mill, staff of the Rangitikei Club, and committee of the Rangitikei Club.
