Successful School Concert
CHILDREN AID CHINESE RELIEF FUND
As a result of an enjoyable concert held at the Pahiatua District High School on Thursday the funds of the Chinese Relief Fund will benefit to the extent of over £4 10s. The concert, which was conducted and controlled entirely by the pupils of Mr. Slater’s room, Standards 4A and 58, was well attended by parents and children and revealed some excellent talent among the performers. Items were varied, a number being original, and ranged from choral work, recitation, play acting, tap dancing, gymnastic displays and infant items, to Maori hakas and a “grand howl” by members of the Palmerston cub troop. Details of the items are aa follows: Song by the choir, “Roll Along, Prairie Moon”; recitation, Elaine Mackley; vocal duet, Ida and Joan Pearcey; pianoforte duet, Joan Goer and Beatrice Hodd; tap duo, Shirley Heayns and Elaine Mackley; pianoforte solo, Mary McMinn; recitation, Barbara Burgess; items by infants; recitations, Isobel Benton and lan Wade, Mary Bisset and 'Barry Lawry, Kathleen Watson; song, ;John Husband junr.; tap dance, Joan jßrabner; duet, Edward Watson and Clive Kershaw; tap dance, Barbara Burgess; acrobatics, Std. 4 and Std 5 boys; lplay, “My Aunty” players, Edward Watson, Ruth Chatwin, Shirley Heayns, John Hutton, Elaine Mackley; haka,* Std. 5 boys; Grand Howl, members of cub troop; tap dance, Shirley Heayns; recitation, Ruth Chatwin; song duet, Elaine Mackley and Barbara Burgess; dialogue, Ruth Chatwin and Shirley Heayns.
