Junior Tennis Club

FORMATION AT MANGAMUTU During the evening at the annual meeting of the Mangamutu Tennis Club Mr. Dave O’Brien stated that he thought a junior section could be formed to include children below the age of 16 years and he suggested a scheme to suit such a proposal. The idea of the scheme was to encourage junior members to join the club from both town and country, to provide an opportunity for keen tennis players for which no other club had made provision, and when these prayers were eligible for senior play there was a likelihood of their joining the senior club, thereby strengthening the financial position with no inconvenience whatsoever to senior players. After some discussion, during which the necessity of supervision was pointed out, the suggestion was adopted and it was left to the management committee to draw up rules to cover the scheme.
