Occasional Rain Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A depression crossed the Dominion last night and the pressure rose rapidly this morning. A secondary depression is, however, now approaching the southern portion of the South Island. Winds: South-west to west predominating at first, but soon veering temporarily to north-west at many places. Force moderate to strong generally and rising to gale force in some exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather ijough to rough on the West Coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate variable winds and slight to moderate seas in the northern portions; strong westerlies and rough seas in the central and southern portions. Weather: Changeable and with occasional rain in and west of the ranges and over the southern half of the South Island; elsewhere fair to fine. Cool night but mild day temperatures.
